Over the past two weeks, I have had an eventful experience in ISM. First, two weeks ago, we had our research showcase. I greatly enjoyed sharing my work with others, as each person brought unique questions and conversations about pediatric ophthalmology. It was also amazing to come together with so many other ISM students and see their work, which allowed me to see the impact the ISM program has had. As the research showcase has concluded, I have continued to progress on my final product. Prior to spring break, I assessed my final product progress by collecting all the work I had done for it together. This allowed me to look back on the variety of research I have done related to pediatric cataracts, seeing how it all connects back to my final product. I also reflected on what I have done well in this progress and which areas I can still improve upon. I have concluded that now that I have collected sufficient research, I must push myself to take action on actively designing and making the model. Thus, during spring break, I explored different videos that can guide me in making a model, as they showed me different materials and techniques for crafting medical models. I also sketched the model and continued to think through the logistics of how to represent the process of the surgery on a model. Continuing on, I must continue to work out these details and purchase materials to experiment with, springing forward in my final product progress, just as time has.
