As we enter this new year of the ISM program, we reviewed what we aim to accomplish. It helps me better picture the timeline of the different projects in ISM. I worked through further details with my mentor this past week and am hoping to schedule a mentor visit soon. I look forward to being able to gain valuable experience and knowledge from shadowing Dr. Thayer that I will incorporate into my primary assessments. Additionally, this new perspective on the pediatric ophthalmology field will allow me to explore different possibilities for my final product. I hope to be able to create an impactful and complex final product that reflects my understanding of the field. I am looking into possibilities of creating a physical final product, such as a demonstration or model. Through my mentor visits, I can gain insight into ideas for this. We also outlined procedures for mentorships, such as the evaluation form, which gives me a better understanding of the expectations during these visits. For now, the final presentation night is tentatively scheduled for April 26 and the research showcase on March 23. This allows me to plan my time accordingly to be prepared for both events. I am excited to gain a deeper understanding of the pediatric ophthalmology field through the mentor visits and development of my final product.
