During this past week of my ISM journey, I focused on refining my resume. By reviewing peer resumes and receiving feedback on mine, I gained a better understanding of the characteristics of a professional resume. I learned that a professional resume should be easy to read and not too wordy. Only brief, but effective, descriptions should be included, and the sections should be clearly outlined. This seems counterintuitive at first, as many believe that they should include as much information about themselves as possible, but in this case, less is more. Additionally, I continued my research this week with a focus on retinopathy of prematurity. I was interested in focusing on one disorder to have a more in-depth understanding of pediatric ophthalmology, as it is one of the leading areas of attention in the field. Through my research, I learned about the complexity of ROP’s treatment and classification, as they are often not straightforward and weigh many details for a decision. I have noticed a pattern of new technology being introduced to pediatric ophthalmology and contributing to more efficient practices. I aim to learn more about the specific ways such technology has been developed and incorporated into the field. I look forward to continuing to conduct thorough research next week and making more connections that help introduce me to the professional field.
