In ISM, we are now completely focusing on doing work for our final product. This week, I will make a list of supplies to buy in order to make the model. This will require further research about crafting models and compiling what I have learned from techniques in videos. I aim to practice the shaping of the model ahead of time so I will be better equipped to make the final version into what I have pictured. I have decided to create the model with part of it being open, which would allow for the inside of the eye to be seen. I believe this is necessary to demonstrate the different parts of the cataract, as they can not be seen through the surface of the eye. I plan to make the model larger than a life-size eye in order to make the components more evident. The main concern is still considering how to replicate the process of vitrectorhexis onto the model. I think I could create a function on the model where the material of the anterior lens can be removed through a hole, showing the suction of vitrectorhexis. It can be incorporated as different pieces to show how it was cut up by the vitrector. As seen, there is a lot of work still to be done to connect all the dots and bring my final product together. I look forward to taking steps this week to progress in putting together the model.
